LSHTM 2025 George AC Bassadone OBE Fund for Africans

The George AC Bassadone OBE Fund has provided a generous GBP £20,000.00 grant to London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to support MSc projects undertaken by current students.

This scholarship funding will provide MSc students with financial assistance for activities relating to their 2024-25 MSc project, including travel and research costs.

About London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)

Aim and Benefits of George AC Bassadone OBE Fund

Awards will be made for between GBP 500.00 and GBP 3,000.00 each, and will be determined based on individual project needs.

Requirements for George AC Bassadone OBE Fund Qualification

To be eligible for this funding, applicants must:

• Be registered on an intensive 2024-25 MSc programme of study.
• Be registered for full-time study.

Preference will be given to:

1. Those students who are both nationals of and ordinarily resident in sub-Saharan Africa.*
2. Students whose projects are based in sub-Saharan Africa.*

How to Apply

• Log in to the Scholarships Application Portal via e-vision using your LSHTM login details.
• Please search for ‘2024-25 George AC Bassadone OBE Fund’ if you wish to apply for this funding, and then answer all the questions online and attach any documents required as part of your application.
  • Application Form – can be accessed by clicking here. Please complete all tabs of the excel document, which includes:
    • Application Form – Complete all information on this tab of the excel document.
    • Budget – The budget should provide a full list of projected costs for the MSc project, and include justification for the costs. Please highlight which costs are to be covered by the scholarship, as well as show details of how other costs will be covered.
    • Timetable – Please provide a timetable for the project work.
  • Supervisor Letter of Support – Applicants will need to upload a supporting letter from their supervisor for the proposed project work for which they are requesting funding. You will not be able to submit your application without attaching this letter to your online application
• Once you are happy with all your responses you can press submit and you should receive a confirmation of receipt email at your LSHTM email address.
• The scholarships portal will not be able to accept applications after the deadline stated above.
• The Scholarships team will be in touch with an outcome in due course.
