University of Newcastle Eire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship 2025

The University of Newcastle is proud to offer the Eire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship, funded by Eire Constructions. This scholarship supports an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student pursuing a degree in Engineering or Construction Management. In addition to financial support, the recipient will have access to paid work opportunities with Eire Constructions, gaining valuable industry experience.

Eire Constructions is a civil construction company specialising in water network infrastructure, water treatment plants, roads, pipelines, and a wide range of civil works. With a strong commitment to regional communities, Eire operates from offices in Awabakal Country (Carrington) and Birpai Country (Port Macquarie), delivering projects across the Hunter, Central Coast, and Mid North Coast regions.

This scholarship is an opportunity for both full and part-time students to gain financial assistance, industry connections, and hands-on experience to support a future career in Engineering or Construction Management.

Aim and Benefits of Eire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

The scholarship provides a total benefit of $20,000 up to a maximum 4-year tenure provided ongoing eligibility is maintained for the term of the scholarship.

The scholarship will be paid as $5,000 annually after the Semester 1 census date.

Requirements for Eire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Qualification

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:

• Establish your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and heritage with the university as outlined here.
• Have the ATAR required for entry to your program if a new student; or a minimum GPA of 4.0 if you are a continuing student. Please note that you do not need to provide evidence of this as we will use University reporting.
• Be enrolled in any year of any Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Construction Management or Bachelor of Surveying degree at the University of Newcastle.
